Description
Génération XIX 2014 from Alphonse Mellot : an ample, fresh and rich Sancerre
The Generation XIX by Alphonse Mellot is a single-varietal Sauvignon Blanc white wine produced in the Sancerre appellation. The 2.5-hectare vineyard benefits from very old vines (almost 100 years old, on average) planted on limestone soils of Kimmeridgian marls. The wine is stored in truncated wooden vats on fine lees for 10 to 12 months on average, before ageing en masse for at least 4 months.
With its bright pale-golden colour, the Generation XIX 2014 from Alphonse Mellot develops complex aromas of honey, lemons and dried fruits. The wine displays plenty of volume, freshness and richness on the palate, before revealing a superbly saline finish.
This comment aims to describe the general profile of this wine. The comment will inevitably be called into question as the wine evolves over time.
