Toro

The Toro appellation is located in Spain, at the West of the Castille and Leon vineyard, at the South-East of the Zamora region. It is spread on 62 000 hectares, between 620m and 750m above sea level. Only 5800 hectares of vines are planted on soils from the Tertiary period. The Toro "denominaciòn de origen" benefits from a dry continental climate influenced by the Atlantic ocean. The winters are extreme but the sunshine is important. Those conditions allow the production of remarkable high-end wines, made from the following varietals: Tinta de Toro, Garnacha (Grenache), Verdejo, and Malvasìa.
