Description
The generosity of a subtle and powerful rosé champagne
The estate
An essential reference for great Champagne wines, the Charles Heidsieck House maintains a prestigious heritage with two thousand year old chalk pits. The pioneering Charles Heidsieck began to distinguish itself from the end of the 1980s through showcasing its multi-vintage Brut champagne’s exceptional capacity for aromatic evolution. In 1987, Charles Heidsieck was the first Champagne house to indicate its “cellaring” year so as to follow the evolution of the wine over time.
The vineyard
The Charles Heidsieck Champagne House owns a vineyard of around 60 hectares in Marne and Aube. This vineyard has received sustainable viticulture and High Environmental Value certifications. In addition to its own vineyard and following the Champagne model, Charles Heidsieck supplements its vineyard through long-term supply contracts with rigorously selected wine-growers and cooperatives.
The wine
Produced from a selection of 12 Grand Crus and Premiers Crus and the fruit of a solar vintage, the Vintage Rosé 2005 by Charles Heidsieck expresses the entire personality of its year of birth in a champagne imbued with the house’s style.
The vintage
The year 2005 marked the birth of an exceptional harvest alongside a vintage with ideal climatic conditions. Harvested from 9 September, the sugar-packed berries displayed a beautiful aromatic concentration and a good level of acidity.
Winemaking and ageing
After a long ageing period of more than 10 years on lees, this vintage rosé champagne will accurately reveal its power and generosity.
Blend
Charles Heidsieck’s Vintage Rosé 2005 is made from a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and 10% coming from red wines.
Tasting
Colour
The champagne is a superb, delicate pink colour, highlighting the fineness of the effervescence.
Nose
From the outset, the rich aromatic bouquet seduces with its expressiveness, deploying beautiful notes of ripe red fruit, from cherries to kirsch and small, tangy red fruits. Notes of pastry follow, upon delicious scents of brioche.
Palate
Powerful and ample, the palate is enveloped by a delicious texture which reveals the radiance of the fruit through grapefruit and toasted notes which stretch into a remarkable length. An exceptional and generous rosé champagne.
Keeping
This vintage rosé champagne can wait in the cellar until 2028 to express its entire aromatic palette.
