Description
A round, powerful and harmonious red wine from Pauillac
Originating from a vineyard that spans 55 hectares, Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a 5th Classified Growth produced in the Pauillac appellation. The vineyards are 38 years old and located on a terroir with deep gravel soil. The ageing of the wine is done in French oak barrels (of which 50% are new) for 16 to 18 months, depending on the vintage. The 1998 vintage of this red wine benefits from a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot.
The Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 1998 presents a pretty ruby red colour. The nose develops an exceptional palette of aromas, in which plenty of ripe blackcurrant and spices appear. The wine reveals generosity in the mouth, showing itself to be ample and distinguished. The wine combines a fruity structure with tannins while maintaining great balance. A persistent ensemble that is powerful, harmonious and round. Charming, it offers a wonderful ageing potential.
