Description
Marked by a late harvest and low yield, 2013 Chateau La Nerthe rouge is a fruity and elegant wine. It is a 43% Grenache Noir, 30% Syrah, 22% Mourvedre and 5% Cinsault blend. The 2013 Chateau La Nerthe reveals a garnet-tinted deep red colour, with purple glints which foreshadow a good density on the palate. The nose first opens up on black cherry, strawberry and ripped red and dark berry notes. It is followed by a complex hint of cedar and sandalwood, enhanced by balsamic accents, that complete an already very expressive nose. On the palate, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape offers a soft and smooth attack, with still young yet velvety and tender tannins. The taste is balanced with an interesting freshness on the palate that structures the wine and gives it length. Of a rare elegance, the finish offers fine and delicate tannic textures.
