The wine was aged for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels (50% in new barrels). The 1996 vintage consists of a blend of 51% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc.

At tasting, the Château Lafon-Rochet 2004 reveals an aromatic nose with sublime acidity. Balanced on the palate, it is fresh and offers very powerful tannins.
