Description
2010 Pessac-Leognan, Bordeaux
Considered as one of the oldest Martillac crus, the Chateau Lespault-Martillac was already used to produce wine during the Roman Empire. The Chateau's vineyard is situated on a beautiful gravelly hilltop overlooking Pessac, and stretches over 8 hectares among which 7 hectares are used to produce red wine. This 2010 Pessac-Leognan is composed of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wine exhibits an almost black, very deep colour. The strong nose gives off blackberry, plum and blueberry notes. It is delicately peppery and enhanced by cocoa and almond notes. The wine coats the palate with immediate amplitude and richness. Generosity, sucrosity and smoothness combine. The 2010 Chateau Lespault-Martillac offers firm yet silky and noble tannins. The finish develops with a certain elegance and persistence that represent the terroir by the graphite and gravelly earth notes.
