Description
The Purity and Generosity of a Great White Wine from Graves
With more than 7 centuries of history, Château Pape Clément is one of the oldest Grands Crus in Bordeaux.
While the red wine of the property has become an icon of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, the white wine of Château Pape Clément has proven, vintage after vintage, to be one of the greatest white wines of Graves.
The iconic estate of Bernard Magrez has combined a respect for the traditional wine-making know-how of the Bordeaux region with subtle touches of modernity and technology to improve its wines and to allow for a shocking consistency in its signature style and quality.
From the vines to the cellar, the Château Pape Clément white wine illustrates close attention to detail, which is a requirement in the production of great wines. Product of small yields and guided by the renowned consultant, oenologist Michel Rolland, the Château Pape Clément White enjoys partial vinification in the estate’s brand new egg-shaped cement vats (15%) before a 14-month ageing period before bottling.
Made from a blend of Sauvignon Blanc (55%) and Sémillon (45%), the Château Pape Clément White 2017 expresses the typical characteristics of its grape varieties, while also preserving the identity of its great terroirs of origin.
While 2017 was clearly a year of many challenges, the vintage was undoubtedly a successful one for the whites of Bordeaux. Château Pape Clément White 2017 is the perfect bet for a great white wine from Graves, with an intense aromatic expression and a palate guided by a generous, dense texture, underlined by a discreet, beautiful oaky quality, which lends the wine a great tension.
