The complexity of a red grand vin from Pomerol
A red grand vin of Pomerol, the Château Vieux Maillet 2018 comes from a vineyard located on the plateau of the appellation.
Situated on the right bank of Bordeaux, Château Vieux Maillet expands over a 8.65-hectare vineyard planted in gravelly and sandy soil with clay loam soils.
The planting of the vineyard is dominated by Merlot (73%) with Cabernet Franc (19%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (8%).
For this 2018 vintage, the grape harvest began on September 24 with Merlot and ended on October 2.
The Grand Vin of the estate, the Château Vieux Maillet 2018 is aged in oak barrels with 40% new wood and 60% casks of one or two previous wines or amphora, for 12 to 14 months.
