Description
The power and structure of a Cornas wine by Delas
The estate
Founded in 1835, Delas Frères is a reference among the fine wines of the Northern Rhône Valley. Although its purchase by the Deutz Champagne House in 1977 marked the beginning of a new era, the international development of the house continued thanks to its acquisition in 1993 by the Rouzaud family, majority shareholders of the Louis Roederer group.
The vineyard
Delas Frères reigns over a vineyard that spreads over three exceptional appellations in the Rhône Valley: Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage and Saint-Joseph. In order to enhance the expression of each of these terroirs, the vinification and ageing are carried out in a plot-by-plot manner.
The wine
Made from a mosaic of steep plots planted on silty soils, the 2014 Delas Chante Perdrix reflects all the typicality of a Cornas wine.
The blend
This Chante Perdrix 2014 by Delas is a 100% Syrah.
Chante Perdrix 2014 by Delas: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Colour
The colour is an intense garnet red.
Nose
The nose exudes all the power of this fine Rhône Valley wine. Although the aromas of black fruits and blackcurrant dominate in its youth, the influence of the Syrah varietal develops over the years, revealing peppery, spicy and liquorice notes.
Palate
On the palate, all the power of Cornas is expressed in a wine of great structure, full-bodied, with a tannic framework that becomes softer over time. The minerality of the terroir emerges on the finish, which is long and persistent.
Cellaring
A very fine and expressive red wine from Cornas which will evolve superbly until 2030.
