George Vernay's 2011 Les Terrases de l'Empire is a Condrieu with transcendent style and elegance. The 100% Viognier from approximately 35 years old vines is aged on fine lees for 8 month, in both wood vats and barrels. The 2011 Terrases de l'Empire show a lovely golden-green-tinted, pale yellow colour. Fragrances of white peach, apricot, or even acacia flowers form a lovely aromatic balance. The palate is also balanced with pleasant freshness that lingers on the long, delicate finish.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
Similarly-styled, with maybe a touch more minerality, the 2011 Condrieu Les Terrasses de l'Empire is a beautifully pure, fresh and focused white that yields ample white peach, apricot and citrus aromas and flavors. Enjoy it over the coming 3-4 years.
