Description

A rich and delicate Rosé champagne

The producer

The very first Champagne House founded in 1729, Ruinart is an essential reference. The historic Ruinart Champagne House owes its creation to the visionary and pioneering monk, Dom Thierry Ruinart. Located in the heart of Reims, the Ruinart House watches over a treasure. Unique, historical landmarks and architectural prowesses, the Ruinart chalk quarries have been classified as a historic site since 1931 and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2015. Located at nearly 40 metres below ground, in the darkness and coolness of the cathedral-like cellars, the precious bottles wait to be brought to light. Elegance, style and timelessness define the DNA of the Ruinart Champagne House, which is one of the most valued brands in France, embodying the excellence of the French ‘’art de vivre’’ in all four corners of the world.

The wine

For the Ruinart Champagne House, unveiling a new vintage is a major event. For the release of Dom Ruinart Rosé 1998, the house collaborated with the German designer Maarten Baas to create a unique case that matched the quality of this exceptional vintage.

The blend

Dom Ruinart Rosé Limited Edition Maarten Baas 1998 is a blend of 85% Chardonnay (66% from the great growths of the Côte des Blancs: Avize, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and 34% from the Montagne de Reims: Sillery, Puisieulx, Verzenay) as well as 15% Pinot Noir vinified as red wine, from the vineyards of Sillery and Verzenay.

Dom Ruinart Rosé Limited Edition by Maarten Baas 1998: Characteristics and tasting tips

The tasting

Colour

A luminous and tender Rosé champagne, with golden pink reflections, adorned with a few coral tones that will become more pronounced with time.

Nose

The Dom Ruinart Rosé Limited Edition Maarten Baas 1998 offers an open and promising first nose with a mixture of floral scents (roses and geraniums) and an abundance of fruity fragrances (redcurrant, wild strawberry, red plum). The maturity of the vintage only appears a few minutes later through the appearance of warmer notes (white chocolate, candied grapefruit, fruit jelly, with a hint of honey).

Palate

On the palate, the Chardonnay grapes have a coated, precise and delicate attack. The end of the palate, finely structured with a contained power, enabled the Pinot Noir grapes to express themselves through fine, bitter rhubarb and grapefruit notes, conferred by its low dosage.
