Penfolds : Cellar Reserve Sangiovese 2008

Southern Australia - Barossa Valley - Red - 15° Penfolds Penfolds 2008 J1944/08
  • Parker : 90

Cellar Reserve Sangiovese 2008 from Penfolds : a Barossa Valley wine with an elegant finish

Cellar Reserve Sangiovese from Penfolds is a Sangiovese red wine produced in the Barossa Valley appellation. The wine is aged in previously used oak barrels for 13 months.

With its crimson red colour, the Cellar Reserve Sangiovese 2008 from Penfolds develops on the nose tasty aromas of thyme, anchovies and black olive tapenade. Next come notes of blue flowers and a reduction of pheasant meat / cassoulet. On the palate, the wine reveals flavours of red berries and rhubarb that blend with green olive, leather, fern, coffee beans and mocha. The roundness of the tannins and the crisp acidity offer an extremely elegant finish. To be consumed before 2018.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2008 Cellar Reserve Sangiovese was source from Barossa Valley fruit and fermented naturally before spending 9 months on its lees in seasoned French oak. Toasty wild cherry aromas lead to a light to medium-bodied wine with an elegant, racy personality. Nicely balanced, it will drink well for 6-8 years.
