Bergerac

The Bergerac appellation is located in the southwestern wine-growing region of France and covers around 13,000 hectares. The vines enjoy a moderate oceanic climate and are mainly planted in rendzines and brown limestone soils, soils leached with boulbènes upon sand, clay and Périgord gravel, as well as on alluvial clayey-gravel soil. The Bergerac appellation produces red wines (Cabernet FrancCabernet SauvignonCotMerlot), rosés (Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cot, Merlot) and white wines (MuscadelleSauvignon BlancSauvignon GrisSémillon). The reds reveal fruity aromas and offer a beautiful, often rich, tannic structure. These wines are sometimes supple and well-rounded. Other times the tannins are quite firm. The whites emit fragrances of flowers and fruits. Some cuvees require ageing to reveal their aromatic complexity. Finally, the rosés of the Bergerac appellation are characterised by a great freshness, and they can be either dry or sweet.
