Italy is one of the main wine producers, consumers and exportators in the world. The country has 533 appellations (all DOCG, DOC, IGT) spread over about 690 000 hectares : the area of its vineyard comes close to 9% of the world vineyard. Appellations are spread on the whole territory, from North to South, from Est to West, as for the iconic regions of Piedmont or Tuscany. Italy counts more than 400 different grape varietals as the Nebbiolo or the Sangiovese. The quality of the wines produced in Italy have made the country a key and legendary region in the wine international landscape.
