Description

Tasting notes and characteristics of the Marina Cvetic Riserva 2021 by Masciarelli

Tasting

Appearance
This wine reveals a clear robe of deep ruby red, enhanced by delicate garnet highlights.

Nose
The bouquet is both intense and remarkably complex. It releases rich aromas of ripe black and red fruits, intertwined with floral notes of violet, as well as subtle hints of vanilla, cocoa, dried fruits and balsamic nuances.

Palate
Generous and voluptuous, the palate offers a beautiful balance underpinned by tannins of great finesse. One can detect a fruity and spicy structure, complemented by evocations of undergrowth, leading to a long and remarkably clean finish.

Food and wine pairing
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with grilled meats, slow-cooked dishes in sauce, or fine cuts of beef accompanied by black truffle.

Serving and ageing
The Marina Cvetic Riserva 2021 is best enjoyed at a serving temperature between 16 and 18°C. While it can be enjoyed now, it also has excellent ageing potential, allowing it to be kept in the cellar until around 2030.

The elegance of a great Montepulciano d'Abruzzo by Masciarelli

The estate
Founded in 1981 by Gianni Masciarelli, the estate is a true pioneer of the qualitative renewal in Abruzzo. Today, the property is run by his widow, Marina Cvetić, and their daughter, Miriam Lee Masciarelli. The vineyard covers nearly 300 hectares spread across the four provinces of the region. This iconic name stands out for its commitment to showcasing the richness of local terroirs through cuvées of great elegance, combining family tradition with environmental responsibility.

The vineyard
The grapes used for this Montepulciano d'Abruzzo come from specific plots located in the municipality of San Martino sulla Marrucina, at an altitude of 400 metres. The vines, aged between 15 and 30 years, are planted on medium-textured clay soils within the Colle di Paolo, Fonte Filippo, Schiavone and Colle Rosina crus. Trained using the Guyot method with a planting density ranging from 6,000 to 9,000 vines per hectare, they deliver a controlled yield of 80 quintals per hectare.

Vinification and ageing
The harvest takes place in mid-October. To craft the Marina Cvetic Riserva 2021, each cru is vinified separately, with dedicated fermentations and macerations. The wine then benefits from ageing in barrels for 12 months. At the end of this period, the various batches are blended and bottled, where they continue to refine for at least 6 months before release.

Grape variety
100% montepulciano.
