An authentic Rosso di Montalcino from Tuscany
The estate
The Scopone Società Agricola Srl is located in Montalcino, in the heart of Tuscany. This estate upholds the winemaking tradition of this iconic region by producing wines that respect the identity of the terroir.
The vineyard
The vines are grown on the hillsides of Montalcino. The Sangiovese Grosso grape variety, a local variant of Sangiovese, thrives on this Tuscan terroir, giving rise to wines of great authenticity.
The vintage
Winter and spring 2022 were marked by beneficial rainfall. The summer proved hot and dry, before timely rains arrived in late July and mid-August. These climatic conditions allowed for optimal ripening of the grapes.
Winemaking and aging
Manual harvesting began after the first ten days of September and ended during the first week of October. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks for around seven days at a temperature between 26 and 28°C. A skin maceration of ten to fifteen days followed, along with malolactic fermentation. Aging of this Rosso di Montalcino wine was carried out in 25-hectoliter French oak barrels and 65-hectoliter Slavonian oak casks. A minimum of six months of bottle aging preceded release.
Grape variety
100% Sangiovese.
