The Caiarossa vineyards are located in Val di Cecina, at the heart of Tuscany. The vines are planted on 16-hectares of mild slopes overlooking the sea. Eric Albada Jelgersma, the owner, is a wine enthusiast who also owns Chateau du Tertre and Chateau Giscours in Bordeaux. The vineyards grows a great variety of grapes from Bordeaux and Tuscany: Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Syrah, and Alicante. This diversity allows for bold creations. A leader in the winemaking process, the estate of Caiarossa was built according to Feng Shui principles, with a gravity vinification system. The winery embraced biodynamic agriculture in 2001.
