The elegance of a Pecorino from the Terre d'Abruzzo crafted by Umani Ronchi
The estate
Founded in 1957 in Cupramontana, the Umani Ronchi estate is an essential reference on the Adriatic coast. Now led by the Bianchi-Bernetti family, with Michele Bernetti at its helm, this internationally renowned brand cultivates more than 200 hectares of vines between the Marche and Abruzzo regions. The estate stands out for its commitment to organic farming and the showcasing of indigenous grape varieties. Awarded "Best Italian Winery of the Year 2024", the company successfully combines family heritage, sustainability and high oenological precision.
The vineyard
The grapes dedicated to this Italian white wine come from vines planted on deep, cool soils, mainly composed of clay and sand. This terroir benefits from an excellent thermal amplitude, which greatly contributes to the elegance and aromatic complexity of the berries.
Winemaking and aging
The creation of this Vellodoro Pecorino begins with manual harvesting carried out in early September. After light pressing, the first must is quickly cooled for static settling. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks between 16 and 18°C for 10 to 15 days. The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation in order to preserve its liveliness. Finally, ageing takes place in stainless steel tanks for around four months, in contact with its own lees.
Grape variety
100% Pecorino.
