Description
This is the top of the wine range produced by the Château La Bastide. The sisters Catherine and Isabella Orliac, owners of this Brulhois Estate are proud of this nectar, originating from a recipe that was forgotten since 1780. This one was recovered thanks to a letter - signed by Louis XVI himself, dated June 11, 1780 - found in the bottom of a secretary and vouching for the King's benevolence to Jean Orliac, merchant and producer of wine at that time, ssas well as owner of this Château. The legend was born. If the recipe for this red wine has slightly changed (it initially included Moroccan rose petals, ginger from Martinique and Colombard), the more modern formula embraces Merlot, Cabernet and Tannat. The color is dark on dark purple hues. Of a beautiful aromatic power, the nose of the Cuvée Royal Heritage 2008 expresses graphite flavours on concentrated notes of black fruit, nearly stewed with light oak hints. On the palate this Brulhois is luscious on a tight frame (to melt along with time), all ending on a dynamic feeling, and a tad nervous finale. A wine designed for maturation, this Chateau La Bastide Royal Heritage 2008 is a wine of patience.
