Description
The liveliness and tension of a Loire white wine
The estate
Domaine Les Poëte was founded in 2001 by Guillaume Sorbe, a passionate winegrower, following a year of searching for the most favourable terroir among the many Loire appellations. The estate reigns over a vineyard where the Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Gamay varietals harmoniously grow side by side on soils made up of clay, limestone, fine sand and flinty clay (also known as "perruche").
The vineyard
Perfectly integrated into a rich and diversified ecosystem, and managed with a deep respect for the earth, the environment and living things, the estate's vines produce precise and refined Loire wines.
The wine
Produced as a Vin de France, this wine is named after the Greek mythological hero Orpheus, a poet and musician.
Orphée 2018 by Domaine Les Poëte is made from 9 parcels ranging from 0.11 to 0.47 hectares. Depending on the terroir, these vines are planted on clay-limestone soils, but they are also composed of alluvial gravel, red sand on a limestone subsoil, or silt.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand and sorted by plot. The press is filled by inerting. Transfer of the must without nitrogen. Cold settling. Fermentation in vats or in 400 and 600-litre barrels. Vinification and ageing by plot. Blending at the end of the ageing process.
The blend
Sauvignon Blanc (100%).
