An Elegant Brouilly Wine with Beautiful Vivacity
The Estate
Founded in 1670 by Jean-François la Chaize d'Aix, brother of Louis XIV's confessor, Château de la Chaize spans 400 hectares, including 150 hectares of vineyards in the Beaujolais. Rebuilt by Jules Hardouin-Mansart and André Le Nôtre after a landslide, it was classified as a Historical Monument in 1972. Acquired by the Gry family in 2017, this historic estate combines royal architectural prestige with centuries-old viticultural excellence on granitic terroir.
The Vineyard
This cuvée "Les Deux Amis" originates from a selection of lieux-dits around the château, on deep granitic sandy soils. This Beaujolais vineyard is certified Organic Farming, reflecting the estate's environmental commitment in its viticultural practices.
Winemaking and Aging
The single-parcel vinification of Les Deux Amis 2023 begins with a complete de-stemming of the grapes, followed by a 13-day maceration in stainless steel tanks with pumping over and rack-and-return, without punching down. After malolactic fermentation, this Brouilly is aged for 9 months in oak foudres before bottling under protective atmosphere.
Grape Variety
100% Gamay.
