A magnificent vineyard of 70 hectares, Clos des Lunes is located in Sauternes, south of Bordeaux. The vines are planted in deep gravel, and the gravel on clay-limestone substrate that is found in Bommes, as well as the red soils of Barsac.
Blending Sémillon (70%) and Sauvignon Blanc (30%), the Lune d'Or 2018 from the Clos des Lunes is a rare cuvée, produced in very limited quantities. Only the most beautiful clusters of very old vines are selected and the fruit carefully sorted by hand.
At the tasting, the Lune d’Or 2018 from Clos des Lunes sports a beautiful golden colour. The aromatic bouquet is highly precise, offering exquisite notes of ripe stone fruit (espeically sweet apricots), and exotic fruit, melon and citrus, further enhanced by delicate floral fragrances with perfumes of linden and acacia flower. On the palate, the wine displays a beautifully dense and generous texture with fruity flavours. The palate is powerful, and perfectly balanced with a beautiful freshness. The wine offers remarkable length and great purity. A great dry white wine from Bordeaux with a remarkable potential to evolve with age.
