In 2011, Le Clos des Lunes embarked on an ambitious adventure with a specific goal in mind: to produce a legendary dry white wine on the exceptional Sauternes terroir. Such is the challenge taken on by the iconic Olivier Bernard and his family, owners of Domaine de Chevalier in Léognan, who, with great passion and enthusiasm, have worked towards elevating Clos des Lunes among the finest Bordeaux dry white wine references, in the land of sweet wines that is Sauternes.
The Clos des Lunes vineyard comprises 70 hectares in the hilly land of Sauternes. The vines are 30 years old on average and are planted on a tapestry of soils, each contributing to the signature style of the estate's wines. While the deep Sauternes gravels confer a powerful expression, the freshness that characterises the gravelly soils on a clay-limestone substrate in Bommes is combined with the finesse and elegance of the red soils in Barsac.
Sauvignon Blanc (30%).
Bright, light yellow colour with pale green highlights.
Rich and complex, the nose blends fragrances of exotic white fruit and citrus fruit with notes of acacia and lime blossom.
Full and expressive, this wine seduces the palate with its intense fruity aromas sustained by lively notes of fresh lemon and exotic fruits (mango, lychee). The finish exudes a pleasant salinity and delicious mineral notes.
