Description
Rich, generous and full, a fine Bordeaux dry white wine
The estate
In 2011, Le Clos des Lunes embarked on an ambitious venture with a specific goal in mind: to produce a legendary dry white wine on the exceptional Sauternes terroir. Such is the challenge taken on by the iconic Olivier Bernard and his family, owners of Domaine de Chevalier in Léognan, who, with great passion and enthusiasm, have worked towards elevating Clos des Lunes to be among the biggest Bordeaux dry white wine names, in the midst of sweet wine territory.
The vineyard
The Clos des Lunes vineyard comprises 70 hectares in the rolling hills of Sauternes. The vines are 30 years old on average and are planted on a tapestry of soils, each contributing to the signature style of the estate's wines. While the deep Sauternes gravels confer a powerful expression, the freshness that characterises the gravelly soils on a clay-limestone substrate in Bommes is combined with the finesse and elegance of the red soils in Barsac.
Blend
Sémillon (70%)
Sauvignon Blanc (30%).
