Description
A complex and delicate red wine from Sardinia
The estate
Recognised as one of the greatest producers of Sardinian wines, the Argiolas family has been magnifying the terroir of this island, located in the western part of the Italian peninsula, since 1918. From generation to generation, this family, who own 5 estates, has been producing fine Italian wines that are imbued with their passion and deep respect for the terroir.
The vineyard
Turriga 2018 by Argiolas is an Isola dei Nuraghi wine that stems from vineyards located at an altitude of around 230 metres in the Selegas area. The vines rest on calcareous soils with little to no gravel.
The wine
This 2018 vintage marks the 30th harvest ("30 vendemmie") of this emblematic cuvée, which exudes the nuances of the Cannonau, a unique grape variety possessing elegance and freshness, as it is harvested earlier than many Grenache grapes from the Mediterranean area.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are hand-picked early in the morning and undergo a 16 to 18-day maceration. Fermentation at a controlled temperatures. Aged for 18 to 24 months in new French oak barrels, then aged for 12 to 14 months in bottles before being released.
