Description
A spicy and creamy Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé
The estate
The history of Château La Marzelle begins in the 17th century. This Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé shines bright today, producing wines typical of their appellation.
The vineyard
The Château La Marzelle vineyard covers 15 hectares on the Isle, also known as the "Haute Terrasse de Saint-Émilion". The 30-year-old vines are planted in soils of ancient sand, deep gravel and blue clay.
The vintage
After a mild autumn and a cool start to winter, temperatures rose and led to early budding. The cool and wet spring was followed by a hot and dry summer, leading to a homogeneous and rapid veraison. The day / night temperature differences helped develop the aromatic quality of the fruit, which reached perfect ripeness in time for the harvest.
The winemaking
Manual harvest from September 24 to October 7. Plot vinification in barrels and in thermoregulated stainless steel vats.
The ageing
Ageing in French oak barrels and terracotta amphorae.
The blend
Merlot (73%), cabernet franc (20%), cabernet sauvignon (7%).
The tasting
Tasted en primeur, the Château La Marzelle 2019 displays a dark and intense colour. The nose is expressive, revealing aromas of black fruit, and creamy, spicy notes. On the palate, the Château La Marzelle 2019 offers an ample texture and well-integrated tannins on a silky structure.
