Description
A balanced and floral Francs Côtes de Bordeaux red wine
The estate
Great terroirs are not only found in the most famous appellations and Château Marsau is the perfect demonstration of this. Since 2017, Mathieu Chadronnier and his wife Anne-Laurence have been enhancing the terroir of Francs Côtes de Bordeaux. Respect for biodiversity and the environment is a major priority for the Bordeaux estate, which converted to Organic Agriculture since 2018.
The vineyard
Château Marsau 2022 is a Francs Côtes de Bordeaux wine made from a 12-hectare vineyard in a countryside setting to the east of Saint-Émilion. On these clay soils, a single grape variety flourishes perfectly: Merlot, the black lord of the Bordeaux region’s Right Bank.
The wine
2022 is the second certified organic vintage of the estate.
The vintage
2022 is a vintage of extreme conditions. The summer of 2022 was extremely hot and dry, but the clay soils were able to mitigate the dramatic effects of the vintage's scorching temperatures.
Winemaking and ageing
Château Marsau 2022 was aged 80% in tuns, 10% in one-wine barrels and 10% in vats and amphorae.
Blend
Merlot (100%).
