Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Cuvée Royale by Antinori - Tenuta Montenisa
Tasting notes
Appearance
The colour reveals a beautiful pale yellow hue with subtle golden highlights, enhanced by a creamy mousse and a particularly fine and persistent effervescence.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with notes of white-fleshed fruits such as peach and apple, accompanied by delicate floral hints. These are further enriched by inviting touches of bread crust, brioche and pastry.
Palate
Balanced and harmonious, the palate offers a smooth, melting texture that pairs perfectly with the characteristic vivacity of this Italian white wine. A lovely mineral freshness carries the tasting through to a long, refreshing finish.
Food and wine pairings
This sparkling wine is the ideal companion for aperitifs. It also pairs wonderfully with vegetable-based antipasti, fish or seafood dishes, as well as delicately prepared white meats.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate the non-vintage Cuvée Royale, it is recommended to serve it at an ideal temperature of between 7 and 9°C.
The elegance and precision of a sparkling wine from Franciacorta
The estate
With a winemaking heritage dating back to 1385, the Antinori family extended its expertise into Lombardy by investing in the estate in 1999. Now owned by Marchesi Antinori, Antinori - Tenuta Montenisa is part of local history, once linked to the noble Maggi family. The estate stands out for its commitment to producing sparkling wines of great finesse, combining the centuries-old tradition of its current owners with the unique identity of its terroir.
The vineyard
Located around the hamlet of Calino, near Lake Iseo, the Franciacorta terroir enjoys a temperate climate with regular breezes. The vines thrive on glacial soils, particularly rich in minerals and pebbles, offering excellent drainage. This privileged geographical setting allows for a slow, optimal ripening of the grapes, which are harvested exclusively by hand.
The blend
This wine is the result of a blend of base wines from several harvest years, ensuring consistency and stylistic harmony.
Winemaking and ageing
After careful sorting, the grape bunches undergo gentle pressing to extract a highly pure first-press must. The first fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures to preserve the freshness of the aromas. The second fermentation in bottle of the non-vintage Cuvée Royale is followed by extended ageing on lees for 36 months, bringing great complexity to the wine.
Grape varieties
This blend is made up of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc.
