The Pure, Mineral Expression of a Grand Cru from the Côte des Blancs by Champagne Agrapart
The Estate
Founded in 1894 by Arthur Agrapart in Avize, the Champagne Agrapart house stands out as a historic pioneer among grower-producers. Now led by Pascal Agrapart, representing the fourth generation, the estate continues to uphold a demanding philosophy centered on respect for terroir and organic practices. Rejecting commercial standards, the estate favors minimal-intervention winemaking to reveal the true character of its soils. This unwavering pursuit of purity and transparency has established this family house as one of the most respected and innovative producers in the region today.
The Vineyard
Located in the heart of the Côte des Blancs in Champagne, the vineyard extends across villages classified as Grand Cru, such as Avize, Cramant, Oiry, and Oger. The vines, with an average age of over forty years and sometimes exceeding sixty-five, root deeply into purely limestone, clay, and clay-limestone soils resting on a chalk bedrock. Vineyard management relies on regular plowing and the use of local compost, fostering rich organic life and deep rooting without the use of chemical products.
Winemaking and Aging
The making of the "Expérience 20" Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Brut Nature cuvée relies on a bold, natural method. The still wine ferments using indigenous yeasts and ages in old 600-liter oak casks, undergoing complete malolactic fermentation. For the second fermentation, no sugar or commercial yeast is added: fresh grape juice from the following harvest is blended into the still wine instead. The wine is bottled under cork. It is neither fined nor filtered, and manual disgorgement takes place two months before release, with no dosage added.
