An Iconic Champagne, Delicate and Complex
The Estate
Named after the famous monk Pierre Pérignon, procurator of Hautvillers Abbey in 1668, Dom Pérignon Champagne symbolises a rich heritage and a relentless pursuit of excellence. This visionary monk is often associated with the discovery of the Champagne method, a crucial milestone in the history of Champagne. Dom Pérignon's commitment to quality and innovation endures, embodied by its current Cellar Master, Vincent Chaperon, who took up the torch in 2019. The House's philosophy, centred on the expression of each vintage, reflects an ambition to create "the best wine in the world", a goal pursued ever since Dom Pierre Pérignon was appointed cellarer of Hautvillers Abbey.
The Wine
Dom Pérignon pays tribute to the art of blending its Champagnes with a special edition of Vintage 2015. It is a unique collection of bottles and gift boxes created in collaboration with the Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat.
The Vintage
Following a mild winter, 2015 was a year of many contrasts: a freezing spring gave way to a prolonged heatwave from mid-May to mid-August, marked in particular by exceptional sunshine and periods of drought. Welcome rains at the end of August allowed for optimal ripening, yielding berries of remarkable generosity and balance.
Winemaking and Ageing
Winemaking at Dom Pérignon scrupulously follows the principles of the Champagne method, with an absolute commitment to faithfully expressing the vintage. Extended maturation in the cellar, a resting period that far exceeds the appellation's requirements, allows the Champagne to develop its complexity and aromatic depth.
Blend
This exceptional Champagne is the result of a secret blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
