A rosé champagne combining freshness and character

The estate

Rooted in traditional expertise, the Champagne Gosset House has perpetuated its style through the centuries. The Gosset family has been established in Aÿ, Grand Cru of Champagne since the 16th century. For 16 generations, the House of Gosset has upheld excellence, now overseen by Odilon de Varine, cellar master and deputy managing director of the house. The house’s champagnes are notably recognizable by the shape of their bottle, a legacy of the “antique” flasks used in the 18th century.

The vineyard

The House of Gosset owns plots on the Grands and Premiers Crus of Champagne, on the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. The approximately 140 hectares of vineyards are planted on the crus of Cumières, Courmas, Chamery, Avenay, Vertus, Villers-Marmery, Grauves, Avize, Trépail, and Cuis.

The cuvée

Cuvée Suzanne Gosset draws its grapes from nine prestigious villages in Champagne: Aÿ, Bar-sur-Aube, Bouzy, Courmas, Cumières, Montgenost, Passy-sur-Marne, Tauxières, and Vandières, offering a mosaic of exceptional terroirs. This cuvée pays tribute to Suzanne Gosset, president of the House between 1955 and 1965, who was behind the introduction of champagne rosé in a transparent bottle as early as 1947, a first at the time, designed to showcase the wine’s color.

Winemaking and aging

The base wines of Cuvée Suzanne Gosset undergo aging for 9 months on the lees from the first fermentation. The cuvée then matures for at least 60 months on the lees from the second fermentation, followed by at least 12 months of rest in the cellar after disgorgement, thus developing its full aromatic complexity. Its dosage is 11 g/L.

Blend

65% Chardonnay bringing freshness and precision, 17% Meunier and 11% Pinot Noir for structure and fruitiness, complemented by 7% red wine from Cumières, which imparts a clear and mature fruit character to the whole.
