Description
A lively and fresh red wine from Canon-Fronsac
The estate
In 1947, Jean-Francis Pécresse's family decided to invest in the Fronsadais region, in the Canon-Fronsac appellation, situated to the north of the Bordeaux region. In 2003, Jean-Francis took over the running of Château Canon Pécresse with the aim of cultivating the plots of this high-potential terroir with the utmost care and respect for the environment.
The vineyard
Château Canon Pécresse 2021 is a Canon-Fronsac wine made from a 3.5-hectare vineyard that rests on clay-limestone soils.
The vintage
2021 is marked by a spring frost which spared the vineyard along with a strong mildew pressure that had little impact on the vines, which have been managed in an organic manner since 2017. The relatively mild conditions in September were ideal and helped to refine the ripening process before the grape harvest and maintain their healthy condition.
Vinification and ageing
Following manual harvesting in crates, the grapes are rigorously sorted in a densimetric bath. Gentle vinification. Aged in French oak barrels (2/3) and vats (1/3).
The blend
Merlot (70%)
Cabernet Franc (30%).
Château Canon Pécresse 2021: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Nose
The nose blends fruity (red berries) and mentholated fragrances with subtle smoky notes.
Palate
The palate is lively and seductive, with its mineral expression conferred by the limestone soils and its beautifully saline finish.
