Vinum

Deep, with a touch of dried mint, blackcurrant and subtle toasty notes; straight on the palate, creamy, with real finesse and the finest tannins that give structure to the generous fruit; the finish is saline, delicately spicy and with very good persistence.

Decanter

Round and chewy with a lovely approachability to this with rose petals and ripe but also mouthwatering strawberries matched to really quite present and intense tannins but not drying. It’s on the more fuller, plusher side but this will soften. Good potential.

Jane Anson

Brambled berry fruit, orange peel, pomegranate, slate and pumice stone. This starts out with promise, a little short on the finish. Harvest 10 to 20 September. 14% press wine. 39 hl/ha. 3.7 pH. 30% new oak.

Yves Beck

Notes of fresh wood and black berries, enhanced by a delicate hint of eucalyptus. Rather slender on the attack, the wine is elegant and supported by perfectly integrated tannins. It needs to gain in depth and substance.

Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Château d'Arsac 2025

Tasting

Appearance
This wine reveals a red color of remarkable depth.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with beautiful freshness, blending aromas of red and black fruits (redcurrant, blackcurrant, and black cherry) with vanilla and toasted notes.

Palate
From the first sip, the wine proves both full and remarkably smooth. The mid-palate reveals a dense, comforting, and elegant texture, supported by silky, velvety tannins. The persistent finish, marked by grilled nuances, concludes on a pleasant freshness with a hint of salinity.

Food and wine pairings

This red wine pairs ideally with classic meats such as beef, veal, pork, lamb, or duck, whether roasted, grilled, or braised. It also wonderfully accompanies game dishes, meaty fish such as tuna, mushroom-based recipes, pasta dishes, as well as a fine selection of cheeses.

Serving and cellaring

Château d'Arsac 2025 boasts a solid structure that gives it excellent cellaring potential, allowing it to evolve favorably in the bottle for several years.

An exceptional Margaux combining elegance and aromatic richness

The estate

Located in the Bordeaux region, Château d'Arsac traces its origins back to the 12th century. This vast 250-hectare estate experienced a true renaissance under the leadership of Philippe Raoux from 1986 onward. Following his passing in 2023, the estate's team continues to operate this singular property. A genuine hallmark of the château, the integration of an impressive contemporary art collection at the heart of the vineyards of this Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel makes it a unique wine tourism destination.

The vineyard

The terroir dedicated to this Margaux wine spans 53 hectares. The vines, averaging 35 years of age, thrive on soils composed of deep gravel, sand, and outcropping marl resting on clay subsoils. Vineyard management favors a reasoned phytosanitary approach, with no use of insecticides or anti-botrytis treatments. Soil maintenance is mechanical, complemented by light leaf removal and fertilization tailored to each plot ahead of plot-by-plot harvests.

The vintage

The 2025 year began with budbreak in late March for Merlot and early April for Cabernet Sauvignon. After heavy rainfall around Easter, spring proved warm and dry. Moderate rains in May and June fostered uniform growth with low disease pressure. Flowering, which began in mid-May, lasted about ten days with successful fruit set. Summer was marked by intense heat, drought, and heatwave episodes. Veraison began in late July, signaling an early year. Welcome rains at the end of August helped the berries plump up, followed by a rainy September that led to early harvests, spread from September 10 to 20.

Winemaking and aging

For Château d'Arsac 2025, fermentations take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Extractions are carefully managed thanks to the R'pulse system, and the selection of press wines is carried out through barrel tasting. After a maceration lasting three to four weeks and malolactic fermentation in tanks, the wine benefits from aging entirely in 225-liter French oak barrels, 30% of which are new. Alcohol content: 13% vol.

Grape varieties

The blend is composed of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot (including 14% press wines).
