Description

A Powerful and Harmonious Grand Cru of Sauternes

The magnificent First Classified Growth of Sauternes, Château de Rayne Vigneau reigns over a superb piece of land in the commune of Bommes.

Situated south of Bordeaux, the exceptional estate of Château de Rayne Vigneau extends over 84 hectares of vines planted on a mosaic of clay-gravelly soils, sandy clay and lake limestone. The vineyard is cultivated by means of sustainable agriculture, with great care taken to maintain environmental equilibrium.

In the tradition of great Sauternes, the grapes are harvested only after noble rot has done its job, and harvest takes place in several successive pickings, only when the fruit is at an optimal stage of ripeness and botrytisation.

The Château de Rayne Vigneau 2018 offers a blend of 76% Sémillon, complemented by 24% Sauvignon Blanc and a slight touch of Muscadelle.

The 2018 vintage of Château Rayne Vigneau is already showing all of the qualities of a great Sauternes wine. In the glass, the Château de Rayne Vigneau 2018 displays a beautiful bright golden yellow colour. The aromatic bouquet seduces the nose immediately with its power, revealing bright, fresh fruit. Exotic fruit aromas, reminiscent of pineapples and lychee, linger, along with apricot and pear, combined with delicious hints of pastry. The palate develops a harmonious succession of fruity flavours, especially notes of grapefruit and mango. Structured and tight, the palate is quite fresh, with the very long finish further enhanced by a delicate touch of bitterness.
