Vinum

Behavior on the nose, with dark fruit and mineral undertones; soft, rounded attack, showing a certain opulence while remaining elegant, sweet fruit core, good length. Harmonious, built for medium-term maturity.

Decanter

Highly perfumed aromatics. Full and filling for the vintage, massy tannins have a lovely texture – chewy but fine and cool too, giving a gentle bounce to this expression with crystalline fruit and lovely mineral edges. This has a glossy feel, ripe and concentrated fruit with a perfectly sculpted frame. Feels very classy and full of sweet and lifted acidity. Great stuff here. Love this. 5% Petit Verdot completes the blend. Tasted twice.

James Lawther MW

56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Cask sample. Berry fruit with a minty freshness. Layered fruit on the palate, the tannins firm but fully integrated. Plenty of persistence on the finish. Has the substance and structure to age. (JL)

Flowers, currants, cherries, and tobacco resonate on the nose, and on the medium-bodied, soft, fruity, red-berry-packed palate. The wine is fresh, forward, and fruity, so you can enjoy it on, or just shortly after, release. Drink from 2027-2038. 90-92 pts

Le Figaro Vin

A soft, fresh, fairly energetic nose where cherry jam, morello cherry and raspberry are wrapped in floral and incense notes. This vibrancy is clearly perceptible on a smooth, harmonious palate, very fruity and gentle. Fruit and floral notes intertwine in perfect balance, like a pair of principal dancers in flawless sync.

A Saint-Julien wine with a perfect balance between freshness and finesse

The property
The Château Gloria, founded in 1942 by Henri Martin, is a 50-hectare vineyard located in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, in the Bordeaux region. Since 1991, the management has been ensured by Françoise Martin and Jean-Louis Triaud. The 2024 vintage, the first certified organic, is characterized by a subtle balance between freshness and aromatic complexity, with aging in new barrels at 40%.

The vineyard
The vines of Château Gloria flourish on the prestigious terroir of Saint-Julien, benefiting from an ideal clay-gravel soil for the cultivation of Bordeaux grape varieties. This exceptional terroir, combined with the proximity of the Gironde estuary which moderates temperatures, allows for the production of grapes of remarkable quality, at the origin of the finesse and elegance characteristic of the wines of this appellation.

The wine

The 2024 vintage is the first certified organic from the estate.

The vintage
The winter of 2024 was marked by record precipitation and mild temperatures. The spring, despite limited sunshine and persistent humidity, favored an early bud break. From June 30, the summer set in with hot and dry conditions in July and August, leading to moderate water stress in mid-August. These particular climatic conditions suggested late harvests, finally carried out from September 25 to October 9, 2024.

Vinification and aging
The extraction and maceration times were deliberately reduced in order to preserve the freshness of the fruit and obtain a fine, supple and aromatic wine. The goal was to achieve a perfect harmony between alcohol, acidity and polyphenols. The aging takes place in barrels, 40% of which are new wood, allowing the wine to develop its complexity while preserving its fruit and freshness.

Blend
56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot.
