Description
A great Bordeaux wine from the Pessac-Léognan appellation
Château Latour-Martillac is one of the 6 properties in the Pessac-Léognan appellation ranked as a Grand Cru Classé for both red and white wines. The estate is very attentive to respecting the environment, and so it uses sustainable agriculture to produce the wines. Latour-Matillac produces its wines with a forward-looking approach through the encouragement of biodiversity, waste water collection and treatment, pruning management, and integrated pest management.
The 2010 Château Latour-Martillac Rouge is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. After harvesting healthy, ripe grapes, winemaking takes place in the best possible conditions and the wine is aged for 18 months in barrels (40% new). The colour is deep red, and the nose reveals red and black fruit aromas. On the palate, this Latour-Martillac Rouge 2010 is dense, generous, both powerful and fine, with tobacco leaf and smoky notes that are characteristic of the appellation. The potential for ageing this Pessac-Léognan is as worthy as the great Bordeaux wines.
