Description

The character of a typical fine red wine from Saint-Estèphe

The estate
Located in the Médoc, Château Petit-Bocq is a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. It was in 1972 that the first vintage of the property was born. Doctor Gaëtan Lagneaux bought the estate in 1993 and used all his passion and energy to transform Château Petit-Bocq into one of the most important references of its appellation. Following the untimely death of his father, Jacques Lagneaux is now at the head of the property. In 2018, a new team joined Château Petit-Bocq. Vintage after vintage, Château Petit-Bocq stands out among the finest references of the Médoc through wines that are known for their great depth, consistency and potential for age.

The vineyard
From 1.30 hectares in 1993, the vineyard of Château Petit-Bocq has grown to almost 20 hectares today, divided into more than 90 plots throughout the Saint-Estèphe appellation. This vineyard constitutes a veritable mosaic of terroirs, superbly transcribed in the wines of Château Petit-Bocq. The vines, which are 42 years old on average, are planted at a high density (8,333 to 10,000 vines per hectare) in mostly gravelly (90%), limestone and sandy (10%) soils. Certified Terra Vitis, the vineyard is managed with sustainable viticulture, and the soil work is strictly mechanical, without the use of pesticides.

The vintage
For this 2019 vintage, the harvest took place from September 23 to October 10.

The blend
Merlot (50%), cabernet sauvignon (48%), petit verdot (2%).
