Description
A Generous, Well-Balanced Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
The Estate
Clos de l'Oratoire, located in Saint-Émilion, is a wine estate founded in 1969 from the finest plots of Château Peyreau. Under the leadership of Count Stéphan Von Neipperg since 1991, the estate has modernised its viticultural practices while respecting its Grand Cru Classé terroir. The vineyard, which is certified organic, lies on soils ideally suited to growing Merlot and Cabernet Franc, producing wines of remarkable quality.
The Vineyard
The Clos de l'Oratoire vineyard lies on an exceptional Saint-Émilion terroir with two complementary soil types: clay-limestone and Fronsac molasse at the top of the slope, and sandy clay at the foot of the slope. This geological diversity gives the wine its complexity and aromatic richness. The vines, which are around 35 years old, are farmed with the utmost respect for the environment.
Winemaking and Ageing
Vinified in wooden and concrete vats. Gentle extraction through pneumatic punching down. The wine is aged on fine lees, with 75% in oak barrels (25% of them new) and 25% in wooden and concrete vats.
Blend
This Clos de l'Oratoire 2024 is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.
