Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Ministre Impérial 2024 from Comte Abbatucci
Tasting
Colour
The wine shows a luminous ruby-red hue with subtle violet reflections and medium intensity.
Nose
The nose opens with red fruit aromas such as cherry, pomegranate and wild berries. It is enriched by notes of Mediterranean herbs and maquis scrub, complemented by a delicate touch of violet and discreet earthy nuances.
Palate
Fresh and full of vitality, the palate charms with its fine, silky tannins. Supported by lovely acidity, it unfolds flavours of red fruit and spiced herbs that stretch into a long, mineral finish.
Food and Wine Pairing
This red wine pairs wonderfully with a charcuterie platter, grilled or roasted red meats such as lamb with maquis herbs, as well as game. It will also go very well with fresh or lightly aged goat's cheeses.
Serving and Cellaring
To fully enjoy the Ministre Impérial 2024, we recommend serving it at a temperature of 16 to 17 °C, after decanting or opening it in advance. This wine can be enjoyed in its youth, but has the potential to evolve, allowing it to be cellared until around 2034.
An Exceptional Vin de France from Domaine Comte Abbatucci
The Estate
Comte Abbatucci traces its family origins back to the 16th century, although the birth of its modern vineyard dates to the 1920s. Today run by Jean-Charles Abbatucci, the estate stands out for its deep commitment to biodynamics and to preserving the island's heritage. A veritable ampelographic conservatory, begun in the 1960s, the domaine cultivates rare endemic grape varieties. It has now become an essential reference, producing distinctive, vibrant wines that celebrate the richness of their terroir.
The Vineyard
The vineyard that gives rise to this Vin de France thrives at an altitude of 100 to 150 metres on slopes of granitic sand. Predominantly north-facing, the vines benefit from a cool microclimate and excellent ventilation. Farmed biodynamically, the terroir is worked with draught horses, while a flock of sheep maintains the natural grass cover. This symbiosis between plant and animal life, combined with rigorous massal selections and well-suited rootstocks, fosters exceptional biodiversity and deep respect for the environment.
Vinification and Ageing
The hand harvest in small crates is followed by meticulous sorting in the vineyard and in the cellar. The grapes are received by gravity to preserve the integrity of the berries. Spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts take place in temperature-controlled, truncated conical wooden vats, accompanied by a maceration of about one month with daily punching down and pumping over. The Ministre Impérial 2024 is then aged for twelve months in foudres and demi-muids, followed by several months of maturation in stainless steel tanks. A light filtration may be carried out before bottling.
Grape Varieties
This wine is made from a blend of Sciaccarellu, Niellucciu and Aleatico.
