Domaine de la Pousse d'Or : Corton Grand cru "Bressandes" 2008

Burgundy - Corton - Red - 13° Domaine de la Pousse d'Or Domaine de la Pousse d'Or 2008 E1082/08
  • Parker : 91+

2008 Corton Grand Cru, Pinot Noir, Burgundy.

The 2008 vintage year is called miraculous and the 2008 Corton Grand Cru Bressandes from Domaine de la Pousse d'Or does not bend the rules. Contrasted climatic conditions resulted in a late yet quick bud break and a slow ripening of the grapes. That year red wines were produced in low amounts because of the severe selection of the bays. The red wines are characterised by a good freshness and a crispy palate. The 2008 Corton Grand Cru Bressandes from Domaine de la Pousse d'Or is pure Pinot Noir wine aged on lees in oak barrels (30% new barrels) for 18 months. The deep garnet colour gives way to a beautiful aromatic finesse shared between black fruits and a nice wood. On the palate thick tannins echoe these aromas.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The Pousse d'Or 2008 Corton Bressandes displays deep, roasted meaty richness - very domesticated and clean rather than gamey - allied to dark cherry and plum tinged with their pits and crushed stone. Landanger opines that his Bressandes is more struck by their very recent bottling than are his three (at the time I tasted) already-bottled premier crus, but I found this broadly rich Corton notably fine-grained in tannin and savory. I'm inclined though to take his word for it that there is even more here than currently meets the palate. In any case, I suspect there is 12-15 year potential.
