Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for the Rochoy 2025 from Domaine Laporte

Tasting notes

Appearance
Pale yellow with silvery highlights, this wine stands out for its clarity and perfectly crystalline appearance.

Nose
The bouquet reveals delicate aromas of white flowers and ripe yellow-fleshed fruit, accompanied by a touch of angelica, fresh citrus and subtle herbal notes.

Palate
Fresh, full-bodied and generous, it offers wonderful density and remarkable balance. The mineral expression of flint brings a light smoky note, complemented by a noble bitterness and an energetic, herbaceous finish.

Food and wine pairings
This wine is ideal alongside fish or noble shellfish, such as spiny lobster en papillote with three citrus fruits or scallop carpaccio. It also pairs wonderfully with a local goat cheese such as Crottin de Chavignol, vegetarian dishes with fresh herbs, lightly spiced Asian cuisine, or white meats in sauce.

Serving and cellaring
This 2025 Sancerre is best enjoyed at a temperature of between 11 and 12°C. With excellent aging potential, it can be cellared for 4 to 7 years, meaning it can be enjoyed until around 2032.

The mineral elegance of a white Sancerre from Domaine Laporte

The estate
Founded in 1850 in Saint-Satur, at the heart of the Loire Valley, Domaine Laporte is a historic estate spanning 21 hectares. Since 1986, the Bourgeois family has been at the helm of the estate, upholding a tradition of excellence while preserving the name of this prestigious brand. A pioneer in parcel-by-parcel winemaking, the estate stands out for its full commitment to organic farming and its dedication to showcasing unique terroirs, producing wines celebrated at the world's finest tables.

The vineyard
The grapes come from Rochoy, an exclusive monopole hillside located in the commune of Bannay, a true gateway to the Sancerre appellation. Formerly a Gallo-Roman quarry known as Rochetum, this distinctive south/south-east-facing terroir overlooks the river directly. Its very stony soil is rich in sharp flint resting on a limestone subsoil. These stones store the heat of the day and release it at night, promoting optimal ripening of the grapes. The vineyard is entirely farmed organically, benefiting from morning mists and rich local biodiversity.

Winemaking and aging
Following an exclusively hand-picked harvest, the grapes for this 2025 Sancerre undergo gentle pressing using a pneumatic press, followed by natural cold settling. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with the grapes' natural yeasts, at a controlled temperature of 15 to 18°C over a period of about two weeks, with no malolactic fermentation, in order to preserve the wine's freshness. This white Sancerre is then aged on its fine lees for around five months, with regular lees stirring (bâtonnage) carried out until bottling, giving the wine greater breadth and volume.
