Description
The aromatic intensity and precision of a Chardonnay wine by Domaine Matrot
The estate
Domaine Matrot has been producing exceptional wines for 6 generations in the emblematic appellations of Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Blagny.
Adèle and Elsa Matrot started working on the family estate alongside their parents a few years ago. 2016 is the first vintage produced by the two sisters, who continue to strive for excellence in the production of fine wines that reflect the characteristics of each vintage and of these fine Burgundy terroirs.
In 1976, Thierry Matrot introduced integrated viticultural practices to the estate, and in 2000 the entire 24-hectare vineyard was converted to integrated vineyard management.
Domaine Matrot is known for its utterly fine and ageworthy wines.
The vineyard
This white Meursault wine is made from a selection of 12 parcels of vines that are 35 years old on average.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand and then the whole crop is pressed. Following a 24-hour decantation, the must is settled and placed into barrels. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged on its lees for 12 months in 1 to 5-year-old oak barrels. The end of the ageing process is carried out in vats for 1 month before bottling.
The blend
Chardonnay (100%).
