Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Marlène N.3 2015 from Peyre Rose
Tasting
Colour
The wine shows a deep, intense red colour.
Nose
The nose reveals great aromatic complexity, with notes of undergrowth, Mediterranean garrigue and eucalyptus. Aromas of stewed black fruit mingle with spicy touches of liquorice and thyme.
Palate
On the palate, this wine captivates with its power and remarkably silky tannic structure. The balance between concentration and freshness is perfect, with a lingering tension that maintains a lovely vibrancy. The ripe tannins bring depth and complexity, while the finish is elegant, flavourful and exceptionally long.
Food and Wine Pairings
This wine is an ideal match for grilled red meats, game in sauce or a lamb stew with herbs. It also pairs very well with mature, characterful cheeses.
Serving and Cellaring
The Marlène N.3 2015 can be enjoyed now but will continue to evolve until around 2036. Decanting is recommended to fully reveal its aromatic complexity.
A powerful and complex Vin de France, the signature of Marlène Soria
The Estate
Founded in 1980 by Marlène Soria, owner and winemaker, Peyre Rose transformed an abandoned garrigue property into one of the most sought-after estates. The vineyard extends over 25 hectares farmed under certified organic agriculture. Internationally acclaimed since the 1990s, the estate stands out for its philosophy of exceptionally long ageing. Marlène Soria now runs the estate with her son, perpetuating a winegrowing approach founded on patience and excellence.
The Vineyard
This Vin de France comes from a specific plot planted in the early 2000s, located on the heights of Saint-Pargoire at an altitude of around 220 metres. The clay-limestone soils, made up of friable rock and stones, rest on a Mediterranean garrigue subsoil. The vineyard is farmed organically, with yields deliberately limited to 15-20 hectolitres per hectare. The harvest is carried out by hand, with a rigorous selection of the grapes.
The Vintage
The 2015 vintage proved exceptional thanks to favourable weather conditions. A frost-free spring, a hot summer tempered by Mediterranean winds and complete phenolic ripeness allowed the production of grapes of remarkable sanitary quality and optimal concentration.
Vinification and Ageing
The Marlène N.3 2015 benefits from plot-by-plot vinification with extended maceration in tanks. After complete malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for several years in tanks and large oak foudres, following the estate's very long ageing philosophy. Neither fining nor filtration is carried out, in order to preserve the wine's maximum density and complexity.
