Description
Tasting notes and recommendations for the G 2025 from Château Guiraud
Tasting
Nose
The initial nose, intense and expressive, reveals notes of pineapple and pink grapefruit. With aeration, it evolves toward aromas of passion fruit, lime zest, mandarin, and a floral hint of lily.
Palate
Both smooth, indulgent, and delicately saline, the palate, elegant and dense, offers a lovely texture supported by vibrant freshness and marked tension.
A lively, beautifully saline dry white wine from Bordeaux
The estate
Château Guiraud, a First Growth of Sauternes classified in 1855, is among the emblematic estates of southern Bordeaux. Since its creation, the estate has cultivated a pioneering spirit and is actively committed to biodiversity, obtaining organic farming certification in 2011.
The vineyard
The vineyard extends over 85 hectares of sandy and clay gravel soils, where Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon are cultivated with precision. The G 2025 cuvée comes from 42 hectares of vines averaging 25 years of age.
The wine
G de Château Guiraud is produced under the Bordeaux Blancs Secs appellation.
The vintage
The 2025 vintage, warm and dry, was marked by water deficit and mild temperatures that encouraged early budburst. Despite a rainy spring that demanded careful vineyard work, the very hot and dry summer allowed for steady ripening of the grapes. The harvest, particularly early (from August 18 to September 3), delivered perfectly ripe berries while preserving fine freshness.
Winemaking and aging
Fermentation is carried out 40% in barrels previously used for Château Guiraud and 60% in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is performed on a small proportion of the batches (less than 5%). Aging on fine lees, with regular bâtonnage, takes place in barrels (60%) and stainless steel tanks (40%).
Blend
Sémillon (53%)
Sauvignon Blanc (47%).
