Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for Pieropan's 2025 Soave Classico
Tasting notes
Colour
Pale, brilliant lemon in colour, this Italian white wine reveals a beautiful luminosity, subtly enhanced by golden hues.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with delicate scents of almond blossom and almond paste. It is then enriched by fresh floral notes reminiscent of elderflower and cherry blossom, harmoniously blended with fruity aromas of white peach and pear.
Palate
The palate offers a silky, elegant texture, supported by lovely freshness. Orchard fruit flavours are perfectly balanced by pronounced minerality, leading to a lingering, pleasantly saline finish.
Food and wine pairing
This Italian white wine pairs wonderfully with seafood, such as lemon-grilled shrimp, or delicate white fish. It also pairs perfectly with vegetarian starters featuring asparagus or courgettes, risottos, as well as a fresh Caprese salad. It can equally be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif.
Service and storage
For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve this 2025 Soave Classico at a temperature between 8 and 10°C.
The authentic expression of a great white wine from Veneto
The estate
Founded in 1880 by Dr. Leonildo, the Pieropan estate is a true institution in Veneto. A pioneer in the region, this family-owned property has significantly contributed to the renown of Italian white wines through a constant pursuit of excellence and innovation. Today, brothers Andrea and Dario Pieropan, representing the fourth generation, run the estate. They passionately tend to a vineyard of around 40 hectares, upholding the family legacy while incorporating sustainable and modern practices in their brand-new winery.
The vineyard
The vines destined for this Soave Classico flourish on the favoured slopes of this historic appellation. The terroir is distinguished by a mosaic of soils, blending volcanic, basalt-rich earth with limestone plots. This geological diversity, combined with a temperate climate shaped by the mountains and the sea, encourages slow, optimal ripening of the berries. Committed to environmental stewardship, the estate cultivates all its plots according to organic farming principles.
The vintage
The year was marked by particularly contrasting weather conditions. The growing season began under the best auspices thanks to generous spring rains, followed by hot, dry months of July and August. However, a sudden shift in weather at the end of September called for great responsiveness and rigorous selection during the harvest to preserve the quality of the berries.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes for this 2025 Soave Classico are harvested by hand. Upon arrival at the winery, the bunches are carefully destemmed and crushed to avoid any oxidation. Only the free-run juice is kept for fermentation at low temperatures, between 14 and 18°C. The wine is then aged on fine lees for five to nine months, exclusively in vitrified concrete tanks, in order to preserve all the freshness and purity of the fruit, with no oak contact whatsoever.
