Description
A fine Californian wine with a great complexity and refinement
The estate
Saxum Vineyards has become an essential reference for fine Californian wines over the years. Located in the Willow Creek district of Paso Robles, Saxum Vineyards reigns over an exceptional vineyard producing structured wines that elegantly reflect the nuances of the rocky, limestone terroir.
A sustainable vineyard management along with a minimalist approach to winemaking leads to the production of wines that magnify both the potential of its fine vineyards and the unique characteristics of each vintage.
The vineyard
Broken Stones by Saxum is a Paso Robles wine made from a blend of grapes from all of the estate's plots.
Vinification and ageing
This wine is aged for 18 to 20 months in French oak barrels, the majority of which are new.

Saxum Vineyards’ Broken Stones 2019: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
This fine California wine seduces with its balance as well as its spicy (black pepper) and fruity (blackberry and blueberry) framework. Silky, opulent tannins harmoniously weave into a lingering finish. Rated by winemaker Justin Smith as one of the top three vintages since the creation of this wine, 2019 resonates with the tannic finesse of 2017, the intensity of 2011 and 2007, and the aromatic richness of 2015.
Cellaring
Enjoy in its youth, Saxum's Broken Stones 2019 can be cellared until 2039 and beyond to reveal its full aromatic richness.
