Opus One, formerly known as Napamedoc, was created by Baron Philippe de Rothschild (owner of Chateau Mouton-Rothschild) and Robert Mondavi (American wine international icon). Opus One exceptional style resulted from the combination of their talent, their vision in the 70s, and the unique terroir (an Eden for Cabernet Sauvignon). Vintages are released three years after being harvested. Constellation Brands took over the operation in 2004, when it acquired both Mondavi's vineyards and Baron Philippe de Rothschild's company. Opus One has since earned its stripes and the character of their wines commands respect.
