Description
A perfectly balanced great Chilean wine from the Aconcagua Valley
Located in the Aconcagua Valley, north of Santiago in Chile, Seña is one of South America's iconic great wines. The 2017 vintage in the region was marked by heat and sunshine, with record average temperatures in August and September, conditions moderated by the proximity of Seña's vineyard to the Pacific coast. Although early, the harvest was excellent thanks to impeccable fruit health and very even berry ripeness.
A blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Malbec, 10% Carménère, 10% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot, Seña 2017 strikes a fine balance between power and elegance. The lovely ripeness of this Chilean wine is perfectly complemented by a freshness that heralds great potential. In a vintage like this, the all-important choice of harvest timing takes on its full significance. The ideal balance between impeccable ripeness and preserved freshness, thanks to a good level of acidity, has been perfectly achieved.
Characterised by primary fruit aromas, mostly dark fruit, well-integrated empyreumatic notes and a floral touch, Seña 2017 has the stature of a great wine for laying down and will need a few years in the cellar before revealing its full potential.
