Tasting characteristics and advice for the 25 Years Old Gordon & MacPhail Glenburgie
Tasting
Appearance
This Speyside single malt displays an ochre-copper hue with amber highlights, characteristic of extended cask ageing.
Nose
The aromatic profile reveals rich vanilla notes alongside distinctive fruit aromas. Fresh green apple and lime zest emerge, enhanced by ripe tropical notes of pineapple, peach and apricot. A touch of ginger, together with hints of ripe fruit and honey, completes this generous aromatic palette.
Palate
The attack is soft and velvety, marked by the intensity of exotic fruits: pineapple, mango, peach and lime zest. These lush flavours are balanced by a hint of black pepper, bringing structure and harmony to the whole.
Finish
The finish is fruity and floral, with a subtle touch of fresh mint and oak, offering long-lasting aromatic persistence.
Food pairings and tasting occasions
This exceptional whisky is best enjoyed neat, at room temperature, to fully appreciate the complexity gained over its 25 years of maturation.
Mixology
Given its exceptional character and extended ageing, we recommend enjoying this Glenburgie 25 Years Old without any embellishment, to preserve the full range of its subtle aromas.
A fruity and exotic Speyside single malt aged 25 years
Glenburgie, a pioneering distillery of Scotland’s Speyside
Founded in 1810 under the name Kilnflat Distillery, Glenburgie is located in Speyside, Scotland, and only began official production in 1829. Owned by Pernod Ricard since 2005, this Morayshire distillery stands out for its pioneering history: Margaret Nicol was the first female Scottish distillery manager there from 1936 to 1959. Completely rebuilt between 2003 and 2004, Glenburgie produces 2.8 million litres per year, intended mainly for Ballantine's and Teacher's blends. Its historical distinction lies in its Lomond stills used from 1957 to 1981, which produced the rare Glencraig single malt—evidence of remarkable technical innovation within the whisky industry.
The Glenburgie 25 Years Old Gordon & MacPhail, a selection from an independent bottler
This Glenburgie 25 Years Old is a selection from independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail, an essential reference in the world of Scotch whisky. From the Distillery Labels range, this single malt has benefited from extended ageing over 25 years, giving it its natural copper hue and a remarkably rich aromatic profile. Bottled at 46% ABV and non-chill filtered, it preserves the full range of aromas developed during maturation. Presented in a 0.7-litre bottle and accompanied by a refined case, the packaging underscores the premium character of this expression. Drawing on a century of expertise in selecting and maturing whiskies, Gordon & MacPhail showcases here all the finesse of the Glenburgie distillate, usually reserved for prestigious blends such as Ballantine's.
