The depth and complexity of a Scotch whisky
Octomore: an illustrious reference among the great Scotch distilleries
Created in 2008 at the Bruichladdich distillery by master distiller Jim McEwan and Mark Reynier, Octomore is a revolutionary Islay Scotch whisky. Now owned by Rémy Cointreau, it holds the world record for the most heavily peated whisky, with levels exceeding 200 ppm. Its name comes from a historic farm near Port Charlotte. Octomore uses a unique numbering system (.1, .2, .3, .4) distinguishing barley types and maturation. Produced in limited editions since 2008, it combines extreme peaty intensity with remarkable aromatic complexity.
Edition 16.2: a great whisky matured in European wine and Bordeaux casks
Made from 100% Scottish barley (Concerto) grown at the Octomore farm on the Isle of Islay, this whisky is aged for four years in Oloroso sherry and Bordeaux casks, then for one year in Madeira and Portuguese Moscatel casks.
